Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharman on Friday said the government will bring legislations on raising insurance cover on bank deposits from the current Rs 1 lakh and regulating multi-state cooperative banks. These legislations will be brought during the Winter Session of Parliament starting coming Monday. These legislations assume significance in the wake of scam in the Punjab and Maharashtra Cooperative Bank affecting lakhs of customers. At present, bank depositors get an insurance cover of Rs 1 lakh on their amount. <br /><br />पंजाब और महाराष्ट्र को-ऑपरेटिव यानी PMC बैंक में हालिया वित्तीय संकट को देखते हुए केंद्र सरकार बैंक ग्राहकों को सेविंग अकाउंट में जमा उनकी जमा राशि पर मिलने वाली गारंटी की सीमा बढ़ा सकती है। अब इस तरह के संकेत हैं कि सरकार बैंक में जमा पैसों की गारंटी को 1 लाख रुपये से बढ़ाकर 3 लाख रुपये कर सकती है। वित्त मंत्री निर्मला सीतारमण ने इसके संकेत दिए है। वित्त मंत्री ने कहा है कि इससे जुड़ा बैंक डिपॉजिट गांरटी बिल शीतकालीन सत्र में लाया जा सकता है। दरअसल बैंक डिफॉल्ट के बाद डिपॉजिट इंश्योरेंस एंड क्रेडिट गारंटी कॉरपोरेशन की ओर से तय नियमों के मुताबिक ग्राहकों के 1 लाख रुपये की सुरक्षा की गारंटी मिलती है। ये नियम बैंक के सभी ब्रांच पर लागू होता है।
